Xray Referral

Our GP in Paarl, Dr Cathy Kabongo, can assess your symptoms and decide if an X-ray could help find the cause. Issues may hide beneath the surface, whether it is an injury, persistent pain or unexplained swelling, and an X-ray will assist in determining the right care plan.

When would you require an X-ray referral?

If you have any of the following, you may be referred for an X-ray:

  • Suspected fractures or broken bones
  • Joint or muscle injuries
  • Pain that does not subside or unexplained swelling
  • Chest symptoms
  • Concerns about dental or jaw alignment
  • Possible infections of your lungs or bones

Dr Cathy Kabongo will ensure that you are well-informed about the next steps toward better health.

What does this process entail?

During your appointment with our GP in Paarl, you can expect:

  • A review of your symptoms and medical history
  • An examination focused on determining whether an X-ray is appropriate
  • Referral form with clear instructions for the radiology team

This process is beneficial to ensure that you receive accurate and targeted results, which are then used to determine your treatment plan.

What happens after your X-ray?

Our GP in Paarl will receive the images and report once the radiology team has completed your X-ray. Dr Cathy Kabongo will review your X-ray and explain the results to you. You will then be given a treatment plan based on your results, which may involve medication, a visit to a physiotherapist or a specialist.
